People do love the gore stuff I guess 🤣.

For those who are wandering what exactly Zombie’s are?

Zombie’s are the living creatures which are somehow due to virus or anything similar have now lost the consciousness of themselves. Those creatures have a working brain but their brain are not capable of making logical decisions. They only possess a tendency to move and feed themselves on other living things. They are neither dead nor alive, hence called the living dead.

The amount of the anime series that are based on zombie apocalypse or similar are very often have the common themes of Action, Survival, Comedy and many of the times Echhi.

Though we see most of these anime series have common type of zombie behaviors but the only thing that separates them is the main character’s journey on surviving this apocalypse. What sells each of the series is how much interesting the story plot is and brings the sense of trying to live at the very end.

But guess what, if you have watched Zom100: Bucket list of the dead, you might find that there are two different approach here in this anime. Our one of the main character (Shizuka Mikazuki) is determined to survive in this post apocalypse at all cost while the other main character (Tendo Akira) makes a bucket list to do before he actually turns into a zombie. This is what makes Zom100 even more interesting to the viewers.

So for all the zombie enthusiast watchers, here’s top 5 anime series that are like Zom100: Bucket List of the Dead .

1. Sankarea: Undying Love

Sankarea anime series poster

Sankarea: Undying Love is less of an apocalypse and more of a single person turning into a zombie like creature due to a potion intake.

The synopsis of the anime described in myanimelist is like:

Ever since he was a child, zombie-obsessed Chihiro Furuya has wanted an undead girlfriend. Soon enough, his love for all things zombie comes in handy when his cat Baabu gets run over, prompting Chihiro to try to make a resurrection potion and bring him back to life. During his endeavor, he sees a rich girl named Rea Sanka yelling into an old well every day about her oppressive life. After meeting and bonding with her, Chihiro is convinced by Rea to persevere in saving Baabu. Eventually, he succeeds with the help of the poisonous hydrangea flowers from Rea’s family garden.
Unaware of the potion’s success and seeking to escape the burdens of her life, Rea drinks the resurrection potion, mistakenly thinking she will die. Though it doesn’t kill her, the effects still linger and her death from a fatal accident causes her to be reborn as a zombie. With help from Chihiro, Rea strives to adjust to her new—albeit undead—life.”
For a boy wanting a zombie girlfriend, this situation would seem like a dream come true. But in Sankarea, Chihiro’s life becomes stranger than usual as he deals with Rea’s odd new cravings and the unforeseen consequences of her transformation.

Well the synopsis surely is interesting and takes us to a different journey related to zombie’s.

This is the most interesting anime which would definitely hook you up with its interesting characters and a slice of life type of story progression.

If a romance angle with a zombie is something that intrigues you then you should definitely give it a try.

I would rate this anime as a must watch type & 8/10

high schools of the dead anime poster

Highschool Of The Dead is one of the most favorite zombie anime series all time. Highschool of the dead is no different from any other zombie surviving anime series but the characters in this anime were just too perfect for a complete entertainment. Let’s see how myanimelist describes its synopsis:

It happened suddenly: The dead began to rise and Japan was thrown into total chaos. As these monsters begin terrorizing a high school, Takashi Kimuro is forced to kill his best friend when he gets bitten and joins the ranks of the walking dead. Vowing to protect Rei Miyamoto, the girlfriend of the man he just executed, they narrowly escape their death trap of a school, only to be greeted with a society that has already fallen.
Soon, Takashi and Rei band together with other students on a journey to find their family members and uncover what caused this overwhelming pandemic. Joining them is Saeko Busujima, the beautiful president of the Kendo Club; Kouta Hirano, an otaku with a fetish for firearms; Saya Takagi, the daughter of an influential politician; and Shizuka Marikawa, their hot school nurse. But will the combined strength of these individuals be enough to conquer this undead apocalypse?

This show is mostly famous for its ecchi scenes but the action scenes and plot line of the anime is also very entertaining.

I would difinitely rexommend tp all the zultured zombie lovers & give it a rating of 9/10. (Trust me on this one weebs)

3. Sunday Without God

Sunday Without God
anime poster

Sunday without god is another similar anime series with a different angle on zombies. Let’s see the synopsis of the anime as written in myanimelist:

God has abandoned the world. As a result, life cannot end nor can new life be born, and the “dead” walk restlessly among the living. Granting one last miracle before turning away forever, God created “gravekeepers,” mystical beings capable of putting the dead to rest through a proper burial. Ai, a cheerful but naïve young girl, serves as her village’s gravekeeper in place of her late mother.
One day, a man known as Hampnie Hambart, who is supposedly Ai’s father, arrives and kills all the people in her village. Having lost her village and with no plans for the future, Ai decides to accompany the mysterious man on his journey. As she travels the land, the young gravekeeper strives to fulfill her duties, granting peace to the dead and assisting the living, while at the same time learning more about the world that God left in this tragic state.

This anime showcases a completely different scenario, here the living dead are just the result of curse of not dying by the god. But god has also created a number of executioners, who hunt all those zombie like beings and put them to rest. This story is less of a survival type and more of a journey of one particular executioner namely Ai.

I would rate this anime a 3 episode try & 7/10.

4. Kabaneri Of The Iron Fortress

Aired: July 2016
Episodes: 12
Source: Original
Studio: Wit Studio
Genre: Action, Drama, Fantasy and Horror
Demographic: Shounen

MAL Score: 7.27/10
Streaming on: Crunchyroll & Netflix

Kabaneri Of The Iron Fortress anime series poster

Kabaneri Of The Iron Fortress is a classic example of all the interpretations of human civilization vandalism by human’s itself. The story also gives an Attack on Titan vibe which is unique itself. Let’s jump into the synopsis itself, as porvided by myanimelist website:

The world is in the midst of the industrial revolution when horrific creatures emerge from a mysterious virus, ripping through the flesh of humans to sate their never-ending appetite. The only way to kill these beings, known as “Kabane,” is by destroying their steel-coated hearts. However, if bitten by one of these monsters, the victim is doomed to a fate worse than death, as the fallen rise once more to join the ranks of their fellow undead.
Only the most fortified of civilizations have survived this turmoil, as is the case with the island of Hinomoto, where mankind has created a massive wall to protect themselves from the endless hordes of Kabane. The only way into these giant fortresses is via heavily-armored trains, which are serviced and built by young men such as Ikoma. Having created a deadly weapon that he believes will easily pierce through the hearts of Kabane, Ikoma eagerly awaits the day when he will be able to fight using his new invention. Little does he know, however, that his chance will come much sooner than he expected…

So, the story is somewhat similar to the Attack on Titans but instead of titans it’s zombies here. The lead protagonist definitely resembles Eren a lot and there’s also a female lead character similar to Mikasa.

Give it a 3 episode chance and I would rate 8/10

5. Zombie-Loan

Aired: July 2007
Episodes: 11
Source: Manga
Studio: XEBEC M2
Genre: Action, Horror & Supernatural
Demographic: Shounen

MAL Score: 6.83

zombie loan anime series poster

Again an interesting story revolving around zombies like Sunday without God but with a different plot and characters. Without delay let’s see what the synopsis of the anime tells us:

Do you know when you are going to die? Michiru Kita does, as she has the ability to see a “ring of death” on the necks of those around her—and the darker the ring, the closer one is to death.
One day, she notices that two boys in her class, Chika Akatsuki and Shito Tachibana, have completely black rings. Seeking to warn them of their impending demise, she stumbles onto their secret: they are already dead, but are kept alive due to a contract with Zombie-Loan, a mysterious loan office. Of course, nothing comes without a price, as the boys must hunt down and kill zombies in order to pay off their debt. And once they learn about Michiru’s “Shinigami Eyes,” they drag her into their crazy world.

The anime concept is again a very unique on its own, and thus can give it a try for 2-3 episodes and I will give it 6/10 because of the animation is back dated and quite old too.
