“Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation” – Recap of Season 1

Yes, “Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation” is coming back with its second season this summer season and we couldn’t be more excited.

Short Summary of the plot of the anime

Set in a fantasy realm, “Mushoku Tensei” introduces us to Rudeus Greyrat, a 34-year-old recluse who dies and is reincarnated in a magical world filled with swords, sorcery, and monsters. The story follows Rudeus as he embarks on a remarkable journey of self-discovery, making use of his second chance at life to redeem himself and grow into a better person. From his early years as a child prodigy to his coming-of-age adventures, the plot takes unexpected twists and turns, keeping us engaged throughout. But I know that you are here for something more and I’m all set too, so let’s jump in and recap the amazing journey of Musholu Tensei Season 1.

The Characters of “Mushoku Tensie”

“Mushuko Tensie” season 1 have many characters who not only are memorable and very much loved by the audience but also playa significant role in the journey of our protagonist Rudeus and some of them are :

• Rudeus Greyrat: The protagonist of the series, a 34-year-old good for nothing, who is reincarnated as a baby in a fantasy world. He retains his memories and knowledge from his previous life and vows to live without regrets. He is a prodigy in magic in his new life but he is being guided and influenced by the Human God, who brought him to this world. His journey took a harsh turns of events when a Mana calamity took place and made him teleport to the Demon Continent.
  There is a lot to figure out for our protagonist about this new world and the Human God, who is constantly communicating him through his dreams.

• Paul Greyrat: Rudeus’ father in his new life, a former noble and adventurer who married Zenith Greyrat, a former healer. He is a proficient swordsman who knows three different styles of swordsmanship. He is a womanizer and often cheats on his wife, which causes Rudeus to resent him. He loves his family and tries to protect them from danger.

• Zenith Greyrat: Rudeus’ mother in his new life, a former healer and adventurer who married Paul Greyrat. She is a gentle and caring woman who loves her husband and children dearly. She is skilled in water magic and healing magic. She goes missing after being teleported by the Mana Calamity.

• Lilia Greyrat: Paul’s former maid who becomes his mistress after he impregnates her. She gives birth to Aisha Greyrat, Rudeus’ half-sister. She is loyal to Paul and Zenith and acts as a surrogate mother to Rudeus. She is skilled in earth magic and household chores.

• Roxy Migurdia: A demon magician who becomes Rudeus’ first teacher and mentor. She is a member of the Migurd tribe, a race of blue-haired people who can communicate telepathically. She is shy and insecure about her appearance, but also kind and loyal. She travels around the world to learn more about magic and history.

• Sylphiette: A half-elf girl who becomes Rudeus’ first friend and love interest. She has green hair that can manipulate wind and is skilled in healing magic. She is cheerful and innocent, but also naive and easily deceived. She has a strong bond with Rudeus and considers him her family.

• Eris Boreas Greyrat: A noble heiress who becomes Rudeus’ second student and love interest. She has red hair and eyes and is skilled in swordsmanship. She is proud and stubborn, but also brave and honest. She has a temperamental personality and often gets into fights with Rudeus, but also respects him as her teacher and friend.

• Ghislaine Dedoldia: A beastwoman who becomes Eris’ bodyguard and swordsmanship teacher. She is a member of the Supard race, a race of cat-like people with enhanced physical abilities. She is a former adventurer and one of the Five Dragon Generals, the strongest warriors in the world. She is calm and composed, but also playful and fond of children.

• Ruijerd Superdia was the former leader of the Superd’s Warrior group who once served under Laplace, the Demon Dragon King. He met Rudeus Greyrat and Eris Boreas Greyrat when they were teleported to the Demon Continent by the Mana Calamity. He agreed to help them return to their homeland in exchange for Rudeus’ promise to spread the truth about the Superd race. He became their companion and protector, teaching them about the world and its history. 

• Orsted: The reincarnation of the first Dragon God and one of the Seven Great Powers, the strongest beings in the world.
  Orsted is one of the enemy of Human God who brought Rudeus in this world and was influencing almost all the decisions of Rudeus in his new life.

• Kishirika Kishirisu was a member of the Immortal Demon Clan and the former empress of the Demon Continent.
  She led the magic race in the Human-Demon Great War, but was defeated and trapped for 300 years. She was freed by Rudeus Greyrat, who saved her from starvation. She granted him a Foresight Eye as a reward and became his ally.

• Human God is someone who is believed to be the god’s of human and he was responsible for bringing Rudeus in this new world in order to defeat his long time enemy Orsted, the reincarnation of Dragon God.

Complete Story Recap of Season 1

Important Event Timeline

• Rudeus develops interest in sorcery and quickly mastered the speechless incantation which made him a unique prodigy and soon tutored by the famous maze Roxy.

• After his training completion he stumbled upon Sylphiette and then the two become very good friends as Rudeus become her mentor and he promised her that they will go to the prestigious school of sorcery together someday.

• In order to earn the tuition fee of the school for Sylphiette, Rudeus decided to get a job and then he finds himself at the Asura Kingdom, where he get to know Eris Boreas Greyrat for the first time.

• While teaching sorcery to Eris , both Eris and Rudeus got swordsmanship training by Ghislaine.

• The Turning Point 1, on the 10th birth anniversary of Rudeus, a Mana calamity happened which resulted in teleportation of Rudeus, Eris, Ghislaine and many other villagers to random locations of the continent.

• After teleportation Rudeus and Eris finds themselves on Demon Continent the most dangerous continent of all. They meet Ruijerd Superdia there and after listening to Ruijerd’s story they plan to form a party and become Adventurers and thus help Ruijerd regain the respect and acceptance in the society.

• In the second part of the season, we see how the Mana Disruption has affected other characters. Roxy and her party enter the Demon Continent in search of Rudeus, while Paul Greyrat, Rudeus’ father  travels around the world looking for his missing family members and then forms a search group to locate the teleported peoples all around and help them find their missing family members. Meanwhile, Eris’ grandfather is executed for being blamed for the Mana Disruption by the nobles who want to seize his power and wealth. Later Rudeus and Paul unites in the city of Millishion(Zeniths motherland).

• In the city of Shirone, Rudeus meet Kishirika Kishirisu, the reincarnated Demon God and one of the 7 Great powers of the universe. She offered Rudeus whith her demonic eye which helped Rudeus in physical combats in his journey forward. This happened before he met Paul.

• Soon after meeting with Paul, Rudeus went to find Roxy in her last location which was the city of Roa but instead he found Lilia and Asia there. He send them to Paul after rescuing them successfully and went to Eris’s homeland which was completely vanished after the mana calamity.

• The Turning point 2, as they continue their journey, they stumbled upon the reincarnated Dragon God, Orsterd. As soon as Orsterd found that Rudeus is aquainted with Man-God, he attacked Rudeus and all three were defeated in split second. At first Orsterd did killed Rudeus but after his partner Nanahoshi told him something, he then healed Rudeus and thus he got another chance to continue his journey.

• At last Rudeus and party got to Fittoa, the homeland of Rudeus where Ruijerd finally bids Rudeus and Eris a final farewell and sets up on his own new journey, while Rudeus and Eris finally got reunited with Ghislane in a refugee camp near the Fittoa village.

• Things took new turns as Eris get to know that her parents are dead now and her grandfather was executed. Eris was already 15 and she kept her promise to Rudeus as they both indulge in love making before she eventually move out on a new journey herself with Ghislaine leaving Rudeus all shattered and motionless.

• In the final scene we got to see that Roxy encountered with Kishirika Kishirisu and she asked to locate Rudeus’s family and Rudeus. She got to know that Paul is reunited with Lilia and Asia in the city of Milish meanwhile Rudeus is not in good shape in the Fittoa rufugee camp but the exact location Zenith was still not clear but Kishirika Kishirisu got some nearby coordinates of her. Roxy decided to go find Rudeus’s mother herself leaving Rudeus and letter about it. Rudeus finally decided to look beyond his grief over Eris’s leaving him suddenly and he decided to set on a journey to look for her mother Zenith.

What to expect in the Second Season

As you might know that “Mushoku Tensei” anime is adapted from the light novel written by Rifujin na Magonote. The first season of the anime with total of 23 episodes and an OVA covers the complete 6 volumes of the source and thus the second season of the anime is going to be adapted from volume7.

If we have to give you a mild hint on what you will be treated with, then behold your emotions once again as you might be watching a top class mage dealing with his heartbreak. Yes, it’s hard to get over someone when things happened so abruptly but Rudeus finds himself up once again to find his first lover when he came to this new place and that’s his mother Zenith. The story will cover the journey of Rudeus in search of her lost mother. Rudeus will take on some A-Ranked monster jobs from the guild to distract himself from the pain of abandonment by Eris. The story might also cover the reunion of Rudeus with Sylphitte and Roxy on the way.
