The story of Domestic Girlfriend revolves around a high school student named Natsuo Fujii, who falls in love with his teacher Hina. However, their relationship takes a complicated turn when Natsuo discovers that his widower father is going to marry a women who is actually the mother of Hina. To make matters even more complex, Natsuo formed an no string attached relationship with a girl, whom he met on a mixer named Rui Tachibana, turned out to be his new mother’s second daughter and sister of Hina.
Well this much of complexity might have not been faced by the great mathematicians or physicians also what Natsuo was facing so early in his life. Kei Sasuga had beautifully portraited the mental battle one has to go through to accept all this bizarre situation and make decisions which is not only focused on himself but for his newly formed family. Again on the flip side of the coin the other characters like Rui, who knew the situation of herself and Natsuo but still put her mothers happiness on top of her own misery that may arise later and not to mention the story of Hina, which is going through almost similar complex situation with her own romantic life and how things escalated when Hina finds about Natsuo’s love for her and when Rui starts to have small feelings for Natsuo as time pass by. The story definitely revolves around Natsuo and he carry forwards this complex love triangle while also dealing with the challenges of adolescence and growing up.
The anime consists of only 1 season with 12 episodes, that too was for promotional purpose of it source that is Manga and for all the curious ones out there, Manga has already finished after running for nearly 6 years from 2014 to 2020 with 28 volumes and 298 chapters in total.
