Engaged Kiss, it couldn’t be more saucier isn’t it? And even though we know what to expect in these saucy anime’s we sometimes get extra crust and this time its the base itself the interesting story arc in it and strangely we all hooked to it for both reasons I guess 😁.

Engaged Kiss: The Summary

A newly discovered energy source is the pioneer of the newly built town where everyone is promised to have a luxurious lifestyle with great comfort but the new energy source comes with demonic curse and the civilians are unaware that this life that has been promised is coming with supernatural dangers in the town. These supernatural dangers are being handled by some demon hazard military companies who bid for the demon exterminating whenever some supernatural event happens. But there is one military company which uses Demons to exterminate demons and that company comprises only two people , one is our main character(Shuu, Ogata) of the show and another is his Demon partner(Kisara) which helps him exterminate other demons of the town. There is also some romantic tension or say a triangle between the main character, his demon(Kisara) and his ex-girlfriend(Ayano). This love tension makes the anime a little more saucy and gives us the comedy elements which are quite hilarious.

Engaged Kiss: The Story Arc

The story starts with showing the miserable condition of the main character(Shuu) as he is getting a good meal in a restaurant after many days courtesy to a young lady who looks like a former colleague of the main character as she taunts the character for leaving their company and living a miserable life. Well you will get to know that the lady is no else but the ex-girlfriend(Ayano) of the main character who was also his colleague in the Demon exterminating company that her mother runs. In the very moment we were also introduced to a young highschool type girl visiting an old building and acting mysteriously while entering into an apartment, well further we get to know that she is the Demon(Kisara) of the main character and they are bounded by a contract that is made between both of them. The main character Shuu has his own private Demon extermination military service detaching itself from the Yuugiri Akino company after finding a Demon partner Kisara.

The story does revolve around the main character as he is the only one left from an uninvited incident which took away his parents and beloved sister in the early days of finding the energy resource which is the pioneer of the Bayron city now. 

Shuu was trained as an Demon Exterminator by Yuugiri Akino the owner of a big Demon Hazard military organization and who also happens to be Shuu’s ex-boss and his ex-girlfriends mother. The story further explains why Shuu separated from the company and started his own as he wanted to find the culprits of his parents death with the help of his Demon partner and also find his beloved sister which he thinks is still alive and is in possession of Demons.

This ambition of himself comes with a sacrifice as due to his contract with the Demon he loses some of it’s memory which makes his ex-girlfriend totally mad and eventually makes the main character completely in confusion as he didn’t remember that he had even dated her back in time. Also the Demon Kisara is seen to get all Shuu’s memory and she envy’s his relation with Ayano but this bitter-sweet relation between Ayano and Kisara creates comedy elements which is very enjoyable to watch. The story is still in its halfway point of the first season till 10th August 2022, and as the story progresses forward we uncover some more truths behind the beds and it’s getting much more interesting. So we will have to see how Shuu is able to achieve his targets and find the villain of his story in the end or will it be just another beginning for the Bayron City?

Engaged Kiss: Characters

Shuu, the main character of the anime, is living in a miserable condition as he runs his newly built Demon hazard Military service all by himself with the help of his Demon partner Kisara.

Kisara is a Demon of A class and her age might be somewhere around 16 a typical highschool girl but possesses great amount of power and her power grows significantly when kissed by his partner Shuu due to his unformidable contract with him.

Kisara is a demon but as any other demon anime here also she has feelings just like any other human being and envy’s the relationship of his partner Shuu and his former colleague & ex-girlfriend Ayano.

Ayano is the daughter of one of the biggest Demon Hazard company owner of the town Yuugiri Akino. Yuugiri also happens to the trainer Ayano & Shuu in childhood days. Ayano and Shuu dated for sometime though not mentioned properly the timelines but there is always a romantic tension from Ayano towards Shuu as she can’t let him go and is always concerned about him. This tension extends with the Kisara coming into the life of Shuu as she is the reason Shuu separated from her and the company.

Another interesting character jumps in the latest episode (6) namely Sharon Holygrail, she  wears outfits of a nun and represents the global Anti Hazard Demon Organisation. She happened to be with Shuu when he founded Kisara in the caves but thats all we know till now as the role of Sharon is still very much needed to be watched in the anime but this is sure that this character will be a supporting character in the anime.

There are then multiple supporting characters which are present in the multiple events of any mission or crime scenes like Morgan Miles, Tetsuya Mikami, Mikhail, Linhua, etc.

Engaged Kiss: Post Production

Engaged Kiss is an Original TV series announced by Aniplex in their booth of AnimeJapan2022 and here we are watching the anime in the summer season of 2022. 

This anime goes with the name of Engaged project by there producers as this anime have seven producers behind it , yes you heard it right, Aniplex, Square Enix, Docomo Anime Store, Nagoya Broadcasting Network, BS11, ABC Animation, Contents Seeds, a total of seven.

The production studio is A-1 Pictures who are very famously produced animes like Sword Art Online, Kaguya- Sama Love is War, Your Lie in April, and many more. With great animation quality with amazingly directed scenes we can say that this anime is top notch in the post production part for sure.

Conclusion

The anime started off a little slow but it picked up very fast in the last few episodes and the story started making sense and at the same time interesting also. The characters are also learning from each other as the story follows on but of course there is much more to figure out for the characters and for us as viewers. So I leave you with a guarantee that this anime will be a worth-watch type if you keep up with it, just barring a few starting episodes then the story really starts to kick off and as I say things start getting more sense.
